The Plan Going Forward
A little over a year ago I launched my first book in a long time, Heartseeker, on Amazon’s kdp service and it did not perform very well. I tried some marketing and a different cover, tweaked the blurb, and ran some free promotions and ads but it seems it was a dud. Not necessarily because it is a bad book, but it was still discouraging. I haven’t given up though.
At least one part of the problem, I feel, is discoverability. It is very hard to get people to even know about your book, much less give it a chance. I’ve looked at the options for indie writers and thought I should give Royal Road a try for my next story. For those unfamiliar with that platform, it’s a web platform for publishing fiction in a serialized fashion. I have a fiction that I have started that I intend to start posting on there once it is far along enough. That fiction is Maelstrom. More details to come.
This means that for the moment Heartseeker will not see a continuation. It does make me sad as I have a lot of ideas for that world and story, but it hasn’t found its audience. If enough people do discover it later and clamor for more of it, I will definitely consider writing more.
For the moment, look for Maelstrom on Royal Road in January 2026 (give or take a month or two lol)
